Three things I’m working on

Well, I know it has been an unacceptably long time since my last post but here I am back on the horse again.

I thought I would update you with three things that I am working on and trying to get ready for the beginning of next semester (August/September).

  • Soularium Hong Kong version. I am trying to get the Hong Kong version of this great evangelistic tool ready. Basically the Soularium is a great tool to help you get into really meaningful evangelistic conversations. It consists of 50 photos and a series of five questions that ask someone to connect their meaning and their lives to the photos. I have found it really helpful. There are two guys I am currently following up as a result of Soularium conversations and almost every conversation prepares someone so they are ready and willing to hear the gospel. The only downside in Hong Kong is that some of the photos are quite Western, and even American, so we want to change them to better fit into our culture.
  • Everystudent.com Hong Kong version. everystudent.com is a website that has been around for a while now.The idea is that it is a website non-Christians can go to to find out about God and Christianity in a friendly, unthreatening environment. Several campuses around the world have found that it can be very effective if used in the right way. Some of the methods being explored at the moment are facebook ads and myspace, etc. We have a few people working to create a Hong Kong version with everything in Chinese, and I am going to oversee them until the project is completed.
  • Short film DVD. At CM2007 I received a DVD of short films which really sparked my imagination. The feature film, which was called La Busqueda, was really high quality, and because it had no dialogue, it was perfect as a global tool. I worked at editing these films so they were small enough files to go on my phone, and to add Chinese subtitles. One of the films I saw was a manga version of the demoniac. This week I got in contact with the people who are doing this project and they are going to do a Cantonese version especially for us. I also got to find out about some of the ideas they have for the future and they are exciting. My goal is to put all of the films on the DVD in a big-screen (TV/projector) version, a small screen (PDA) version, and a 3gp version especially for cellphones.
